Job Description

The Back of House (BOH) Manager is responsible for overseeing all non-guest-facing hotel operations, ensuring efficiency, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards. This role involves managing the stewarding, receiving, and storage departments, coordinating with culinary and housekeeping teams, and maintaining smooth back-end operations to support front-of-house services.

 

  • Oversee all back-of-house functions, including stewarding, receiving, storage, and waste management.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene standards (HACCP, local regulations, and company policies).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all BOH areas, including kitchens, storerooms, and staff facilities.
  • Implement and monitor inventory control procedures to minimize waste and ensure cost efficiency.
  • Lead, train, and manage BOH staff, ensuring high performance and adherence to standards.
  • Develop work schedules, assign tasks, and monitor team productivity.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on safety, hygiene, and best practices.
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef, Food & Beverage Manager, and Housekeeping teams to ensure smooth hotel operations.
  • Oversee deliveries, verify stock quality, and coordinate with suppliers to maintain inventory levels.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of all food and non-food items to prevent loss or damage.
  • Monitor BOH expenses and optimize resources to maintain cost efficiency.
  • Assist in planning and controlling the BOH budget, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost-saving initiatives.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Previous experience in a Back of House, Stewarding, or Operations Manager role within a hotel.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations (HACCP, OSHA, etc.).
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic financial reporting.
