Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and professional Head Waiter to join our food and beverage team. As the Head Waiter, you will oversee the daily operations of the restaurant or dining area, leading a team of waitstaff to provide excellent service to our guests. You will ensure that guests have a memorable dining experience by supervising service, managing staff, and maintaining the highest standards of food and beverage service.

 Job Duties

 

  • Lead, train, and supervise the waitstaff team, ensuring they adhere to service standards, maintain a professional attitude, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Greet guests, provide menu recommendations, answer questions regarding food and beverage offerings, and ensure all special guest requests are met with attention and care.
  • Oversee the service flow during meal periods, ensuring that food is served promptly and to the required standards of presentation. Coordinate between the kitchen and waitstaff to ensure smooth service delivery.
  • Regularly check in with guests to ensure satisfaction with their meals and address any concerns or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure tables are set according to the hotel's standards, maintaining cleanliness and proper organization throughout the service. Oversee the proper maintenance of the dining area.
  • Take orders from guests, ensuring accuracy and relaying them to the kitchen in a timely manner. Ensure the delivery of orders is done efficiently and in a manner that exceeds guest expectations.
  • Provide guidance to guests in selecting wine, beverages, and pairings that complement their meals. Serve drinks and wines according to hotel standards.
  • Train new waitstaff, ensuring they are familiar with the menu, guest service standards, and operational procedures. Conduct regular briefings and evaluations of the waitstaff team to ensure consistent performance.
  • Assist with maintaining appropriate stock levels of service materials and equipment. Ensure that all materials are available and in good working condition for smooth service.
  • Ensure that all food safety and hygiene regulations are followed at all times, both by staff and in relation to food handling.
  • Build strong rapport with regular guests and encourage repeat visits. Handle any guest complaints or issues calmly, professionally, and to the satisfaction of the guest.
  • Work closely with the Food and Beverage Manager and other restaurant leadership to implement new policies, improve service standards, and meet guest satisfaction goals.

Desired Skill & Expertise

 

  • Proven work experience as a Waiter or Waitress
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with experience managing and motivating a team of waitstaff.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with guests, kitchen staff, and fellow team members.
  • Exceptional guest service skills with the ability to anticipate guest needs and provide tailored recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, especially during peak service hours.
  • A professional appearance and demeanor with a strong commitment to upholding the hotel’s standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining attention to detail and excellent service.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations in the food and beverage industry, including food handling and hygiene standards.
