Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and creative Commis 2 (Pastry) to join our pastry team at [Hotel Name]. In this role, you will assist with the preparation, baking, and presentation of a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods. Under the guidance of the Pastry Chef and senior pastry team members, you will have the opportunity to refine your skills, learn new techniques, and contribute to creating exquisite desserts for our guests.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing doughs, batters, fillings, and other key components for pastries, cakes, and desserts.
  • Support the team in baking, decorating, and assembling a variety of pastries and desserts, ensuring consistency in taste and quality.
  • Assist in the presentation and plating of desserts for service, ensuring each item meets the hotel’s high presentation standards.
  • Help with monitoring and managing pastry inventory, ensuring proper stock rotation and reporting low stock levels to the Pastry Chef.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring that all food safety and hygiene guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Collaborate with other pastry chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations, assisting with tasks in different areas as needed.
  • Take the opportunity to develop your pastry skills by learning from experienced chefs, gaining exposure to new techniques and recipes.
  • Contribute to preparing pastries and desserts for special events, banquets, or seasonal menu changes as directed by the Pastry Chef.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Previous experience in a pastry or baking environment is preferred.
  • Strong interest and passion for pastry arts and dessert creation.
  • Basic knowledge of pastry techniques, baking, and cake decorating.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment, particularly during service periods.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen hygiene practices.
