Job Description

Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Commis 2 to join our culinary team at [Hotel Name]. As a Commis 2, you will support the kitchen in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes, with a focus on learning and developing your culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their culinary career in a fast-paced, high-end hotel environment.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for dishes, ensuring they are ready for cooking and service.
  • Cook, plate, and garnish dishes according to the specifications and standards set by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef.
  • Work across different sections of the kitchen to gain hands-on experience and develop a well-rounded skill set.
  • Assist with monitoring stock levels, managing inventory, and ensuring proper stock rotation to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidelines, keeping work areas clean and organized, and following all food safety standards.
  • Ensure the consistency and quality of food preparation, presentation, and portion control in line with hotel standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, communicating effectively to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment at a Commis 2 level or in a similar junior kitchen role.
  • A passion for food and a desire to further develop culinary skills.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a busy, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining the quality of dishes.
  • Good communication and teamworking skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
