We are looking for a dedicated and motivated Commis 1 to join our culinary team at [Hotel Name]. As a Commis 1, you will work alongside the senior chefs, assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food, ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen. This role provides an excellent opportunity to grow and develop your culinary skills in a dynamic, high-end hotel environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for dishes, ensuring all components are ready for service.
  • Work under the guidance of the Chef de Partie to prepare, cook, and plate food to the hotel’s high standards.
  •  Rotate between kitchen sections (such as meat, fish, pastry, or vegetables), learning new techniques and gaining hands-on experience in each area.
  • Assist with inventory control, ensuring proper stock rotation, and alerting senior chefs when supplies are running low.
  • Follow strict hygiene and safety practices in the kitchen, ensuring cleanliness of all work areas and compliance with health regulations.
  • Ensure all dishes meet quality standards in terms of taste, presentation, and portion sizes.
  • Collaborate with fellow kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations, helping where needed during service times.
  • Actively seek feedback from senior chefs and take initiative in learning and improving culinary techniques.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, preferably in a hotel (as a Commis 1).
  • A passion for food and cooking, with a desire to learn and improve culinary skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow instructions.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
