Job Description

The Linen Sorter is responsible for sorting, organizing, and preparing soiled linens for washing and ensuring the efficient flow of clean linens back to the hotel. This position requires strong organizational skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.

  • Sort and separate soiled linens according to type, color, and fabric content for efficient laundering.
  • Inspect linens for stains, damages, and wear, and separate items requiring special treatment or repairs.
  • Load and unload linen carts, washing machines, dryers, and other laundry equipment.
  • Operate laundry machinery and equipment, following safety procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Remove lint and debris from linens, machines, and laundry areas to maintain cleanliness and prevent machine malfunctions.
  • Fold, stack, and prepare clean linens for storage or distribution to the appropriate hotel departments.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels of linens, coordinating with the purchasing department for timely replenishment.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the linen sorting area, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Assist in the general upkeep and maintenance of laundry equipment.
  • Collaborate with other laundry department staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Adhere to hotel policies and procedures, including safety and security protocols.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance issues to the appropriate department for prompt resolution.
  • Assist in other laundry department tasks, such as folding and organizing guest clothing or other special projects as assigned.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Proven experience in a laundry or linen sorting role, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, such as bags of soiled linens.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Basic knowledge of laundry machinery and equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation regulations and practices.
