Job Description

As the Head Bartender in a hotel, you will oversee all aspects of the hotel’s bar operations, ensuring that guests receive high-quality service, and that bar operations run smoothly and efficiently. You will manage the bar team, maintain inventory, create innovative drink menus, and uphold the hotel’s standards for service and safety. Your leadership will be crucial in providing an exceptional guest experience in the hotel’s bar or lounge areas.

  • Supervise and manage day-to-day bar operations in accordance with hotel standards and guest expectations.
  • Prepare and serve a wide variety of cocktails, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and hotel specialty drinks.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar, adhering to health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Ensure smooth service during busy periods, managing both bar and lounge areas effectively.
  • Lead, mentor, and train bar staff to ensure they are knowledgeable about drink preparation, hotel protocols, and customer service standards.
  • Conduct ongoing performance evaluations and provide feedback, coaching, and support to team members.
  • Ensure that staff adhere to responsible alcohol service standards and hotel policies.
  • Assist in recruiting and onboarding new bartenders and bar staff.
  • Create an exceptional guest experience by delivering high-quality service in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Engage with guests, offer personalized drink recommendations, and respond to special requests.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Promote a welcoming and positive atmosphere in the bar, contributing to an enjoyable environment for all guests.
  • Oversee inventory management, ensuring that the bar is fully stocked with the necessary spirits, garnishes, glassware, and other supplies.
  • Manage stock levels and place orders for beverages and bar supplies, ensuring cost control and minimal waste.
  • Regularly check and maintain the bar’s stockroom, ensuring proper storage and organization.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and maintain accurate records of all supplies.
  • Ensure the bar complies with local and hotel regulations, including health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service.
  • Monitor and maintain a clean and safe environment, including regular cleaning and sanitizing of bar areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Ensure that all bar staff are trained in safety protocols, including emergency procedures and safe alcohol handling practices.
  • Help manage the bar’s financial performance by monitoring sales, costs, and profitability.
  • Handle cash, process payments, and ensure that all transactions are accurate.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for the bar operation, contributing to overall financial goals.
  • Collaborate with hotel management to analyze guest preferences and create targeted promotions to drive revenue.
  • Collaborate with hotel management and the culinary team to develop and update the bar menu with seasonal cocktails, hotel specials, and new beverage offerings.
  • Experiment with new drink recipes and create signature cocktails that reflect the hotel’s brand and style.
  • Introduce new concepts, seasonal drinks, or promotions to keep the menu fresh and exciting for guests.
  • Coordinate bar services for hotel events, conferences, and private parties, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Provide VIP services for high-profile guests or hotel functions, ensuring they receive exceptional attention and care.
  • Plan and execute bar setups for special occasions, including weddings, corporate events, and holiday functions.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required); additional certifications in bartending or hospitality management (preferred).
  • Proven experience as a bartender, with at least 2-3 years of experience in a hotel setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of cocktail recipes, spirits, and bar equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to manage inventory, handle cash, and process payments accurately.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations, including responsible alcohol service.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure, especially during busy periods.
