Job Description

As a Hostess at a hotel, you will be the first point of contact for guests in the restaurant or dining area, providing a warm, welcoming, and professional experience. You will manage guest seating arrangements, ensure smooth operations, and assist the front-of-house team in maintaining excellent service standards. Your role will be vital in setting the tone for the guest experience by greeting guests, managing reservations, and ensuring that dining areas are organized and ready for service.

  • Greet guests with a friendly, welcoming attitude upon their arrival at the hotel’s restaurant or dining area.
  • Ensure guests feel valued and comfortable by offering a warm and professional greeting.
  • Escort guests to their tables in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring that seating arrangements meet guest preferences and restaurant capacity.
  • Manage reservations and waitlists, ensuring that seating is efficiently allocated.
  • Provide guests with information about the menu, restaurant services, and special offers.
  • Respond to guest inquiries, assist with special requests, and direct guests to appropriate staff when necessary.
  • Ensure that all guests’ needs are met during their dining experience, from seating to departure.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns in a professional and courteous manner, seeking assistance from management when necessary.
  • Manage and coordinate reservations using the hotel’s booking system, ensuring accuracy in seating arrangements.
  • Maintain an organized and updated guest reservation list, including special requests or preferences.
  • Manage walk-ins, ensuring guests are promptly seated and aware of any waiting times.
  • Monitor dining room flow and adjust seating as necessary to ensure a smooth, efficient operation.
  • Ensure that the dining area is clean, organized, and ready for service at all times.
  • Work with servers and the F&B team to ensure that tables are set up properly with the necessary cutlery, glassware, and menus.
  • Keep track of table status and inform the staff of any changes in guest seating or dining preferences.
  • Coordinate with the cleaning team to ensure that dining areas are maintained during service.
  • Maintain effective communication with the kitchen, servers, and management to ensure smooth service.
  • Notify the service staff when guests are seated, and provide them with any special instructions or guest preferences.
  • Assist in managing guest flow during peak hours, ensuring that all guests are seated in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with the front desk and F&B teams to coordinate reservations and special requests from hotel guests.
  • Thank guests for dining and ensure they have had a positive experience.
  • Invite guests to return and encourage repeat visits by providing information on upcoming events or promotions.
  • Ensure that guests leave with a positive impression of the hotel and restaurant service.
  • Assist servers and other staff as needed during busy periods, including supporting with drink orders, clearing tables, or delivering menus.
  • Help maintain a pleasant and efficient working atmosphere in the front-of-house area.
  • Assist with setting up and closing the dining area, including arranging seating and cleaning.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with guests in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during busy or high-pressure times.
  • Customer-focused with a passion for providing exceptional service.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in hospitality or food and beverage.
  • Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with other hotel departments.
  • Basic knowledge of reservation systems and front-of-house operations (preferred).
  • Knowledge of hotel or restaurant policies and procedures.
  • Previous experience as a hostess.
  • Familiarity with hotel or restaurant reservation systems.
