Job Description

The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily laundry operations to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality cleaning, pressing, and folding of linens, uniforms, and guest items. This role involves supervising a team of laundry attendants, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to hotel standards and health regulations. The Laundry Supervisor works closely with the housekeeping team and other departments to meet operational needs and maintain guest satisfaction.

 

  • Supervise, train, and evaluate laundry staff, including attendants and pressers.
  • Assign tasks and monitor the team’s daily activities to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on laundry procedures, stain removal, fabric care, and safety practices.
  • Organize and prioritize daily laundry loads, including linens, towels, uniforms, and guest laundry requests.
  • Ensure that all laundry processes, such as washing, drying, pressing, and folding, are completed according to hotel standards.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of linens, guest items, and supplies, coordinating with the housekeeping and purchasing departments for timely replenishment.
  • Inspect washed and pressed items to ensure they meet quality standards for cleanliness, appearance, and fabric care.
  • Address and resolve any issues with stained or damaged items promptly.
  • Oversee the proper handling and care of all fabrics, ensuring that specific treatment protocols are followed for different materials.
  • Ensure all laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, and ironing machines, is in proper working condition.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule regular servicing and promptly report any malfunctions or repairs needed.
  • Handle guest laundry requests, ensuring prompt and professional service, and resolve any concerns or complaints.
  • Work closely with the front office and housekeeping teams to manage special requests and urgent items.
  • Enforce hotel policies and procedures related to health, hygiene, and safety within the laundry area.
  • Ensure compliance with sanitation guidelines, proper chemical handling, and safe laundry practices.
  • Regularly update laundry procedures and safety protocols as per hotel and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily laundry operations, including item counts, inventory levels, and staff productivity.
  • Prepare reports on laundry usage, costs, and maintenance needs for review by the Housekeeping Manager.
  • Assist in managing the laundry budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities in resources and supplies.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Proven experience in a hotel, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laundry equipment, fabrics, and stain removal techniques.
  • Familiarity with health and safety standards and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
