Job Description

The Assistant Bar Manager will assist in overseeing the daily operations of the bar, ensuring excellent customer service, efficient workflow, and a vibrant atmosphere in line with the beach club's standards. This role involves staff management, inventory control, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operational Management:

    • Assist the Venue Manager in planning and executing the bar's daily operations.
    • Oversee bar setup and breakdown procedures.
    • Ensure all drinks and cocktails are prepared and served according to the club’s standards.
    • Monitor and maintain the quality of service, hygiene, and cleanliness.
  2. Staff Supervision & Training:

    • Assist in hiring, training, and managing bar staff.
    • Create staff schedules and assign duties to ensure adequate coverage.
    • Conduct regular training sessions to enhance product knowledge, service skills, and compliance with safety protocols.
    • Motivate and manage staff performance, addressing any issues promptly.
  3. Customer Service:

    • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining a welcoming atmosphere.
    • Address customer complaints and feedback in a professional and efficient manner.
    • Promote a friendly and energetic environment that aligns with the beach club’s ambiance.
  4. Inventory & Stock Management:

    • Assist in managing bar inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking supplies.
    • Monitor stock levels and ensure optimal levels are maintained.
    • Conduct regular inventory checks and reconcile discrepancies.
    • Implement cost-control measures to minimize waste and theft.
  5. Financial Responsibilities:

    • Assist in budgeting and financial planning for the bar.
    • Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accurate end-of-day reconciliation.
    • Contribute to achieving sales targets through upselling and promotional activities.
  6. Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure compliance with all local and international regulations, including alcohol licensing laws.
    • Maintain health and safety standards, ensuring all equipment is in good working order.
    • Conduct regular safety and hygiene checks.
  7. Event Support:

    • Assist in organizing and executing bar-related events and promotions.
    • Collaborate with the events team to ensure smooth bar operations during special events.
  8. Reporting:

    • Prepare and submit operational and financial reports as required.
    • Report any issues or incidents to the Venue Manager promptly.

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Proven experience as a Bar Supervisor or Assistant Bar Manager, preferably in a beach club or high-volume venue.
  • Strong knowledge of bar operations, including cocktail preparation and inventory management.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Proficiency in bar management software is a plus.
  • Outgoing and friendly personality.
  • High energy level and ability to work long hours.
  • Passion for hospitality and customer service.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
  • Ability to stand for long periods.
