Job Description

The Uniform Attendant is responsible for the management, distribution, and maintenance of uniforms for all hotel staff. This role involves ensuring that all uniforms are clean, well-maintained, and readily available to employees, as well as keeping accurate records of inventory and uniform issuance. The Uniform Attendant plays a key role in supporting the professional appearance and uniform standards of the hotel staff.

 

  • Oversee the issuance, collection, and inventory of uniforms for hotel staff. Ensure that all employees have the correct uniform pieces and that they are in good condition.
  • Manage the laundering of uniforms, including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and folding. Coordinate with the laundry department or external laundry services to ensure timely and efficient cleaning of uniforms.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of all uniforms, including tracking issuance, returns, and replacements. Monitor inventory levels and reorder uniforms as needed to ensure an adequate supply.
  • Issue uniforms to new employees and replace uniforms for existing staff as needed. Ensure that all employees sign for their uniforms and return them upon termination of employment.
  • Arrange for or perform minor alterations and repairs to uniforms, such as hemming, button replacement, or patching. Coordinate with tailors or seamstresses for more extensive alterations or repairs.
  • Inspect uniforms regularly to ensure they meet the hotel’s standards for cleanliness, appearance, and fit. Remove and replace any uniforms that are worn out, damaged, or no longer meet quality standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of uniform issuance, inventory levels, and laundry activities. Ensure that all records are accurate and up to date.
  • Occasionally assist guests with garment care needs, such as pressing or minor repairs, if the hotel offers such services.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols related to the handling of laundry and cleaning chemicals. Ensure that the uniform room and laundry areas are kept clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with other housekeeping or laundry duties as needed, including helping with guest laundry services during busy periods.

 

 

Desired Skill & Expertise

  • Previous experience in a similar role, such as laundry or housekeeping, is preferred. Experience in inventory management or garment care is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform basic garment repairs. Proficiency in using inventory management software is an advantage.
  • Ability to perform tasks that involve standing for extended periods, bending, lifting up to 25 pounds, and handling laundry equipment.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
